Melbourne to Sydney

31st of January

We left at 9:00 am from Altona, Melbourne to begin our 3 day journey to Sydney via Mallacoota, Berry and Bulli -- the coastal route.
The first stretch was 6 hours driving and a 7 hour trip. The road was about a third double-lane freeway and the rest was single-lane, twisting and turning road part of which was called "The Alpine Route". Did about 550 km of that and arrived at our cabin in Mallacoota at around 4:00pm.

Mallacoota was a beautiful little town right on the edge of a huge lake. After a dinner of Chicken and Chips and showers all around we were off to have a good nights sleep. Next morning the smell of coffee and Rooibos tea was in the air. After packing the car up and checking out of the cabin we were on the road at 9:00 am again. Today we were driving up north on the coast through a slew of towns on our way to Berry. The trip was less KM's but took longer due to all the towns we were gong through. Our trusty GPS took us right into the mountainous regions of New South Wales to our friends place which was a miniature paradise nestled between forest, streams, meadows and mountains.

That evening we went with the friends and their kiddos to a beach about 30 min drive and enjoyed a BBQ with the setting of the sun. The kids all had a great run around and were ready to hit the sack when we got back. That night we slept in a motor home.

Next morning, the 2nd of February, we drove from Berry to Austinmer Beach where we met up with the rest of the Adair and Tonkin Family. All together we were 19 Adults and 8 kids.
